Appreciation post: used to line up every fade with a razor, now I do 90% of the work with a $40 trimmer
After 6 years of fighting razor burn and angry customers at my chair in Dallas, I finally tried detailing with a trimmer first and only clean up the edges with a razor, which cut my average fade time from 45 minutes to 25 and my complaints down to almost zero, so if you are still razor-only on every single cut, what made you finally switch or are you staying loyal to the blade?
What actually convinced you the trimmer was good enough for the bulk work, a specific brand or just getting tired of the burn? I ask because most guys I know who stay razor-only say the trimmer leaves lines that show up under certain lighting. Did you run into that at first and fix it with technique, or was it never an issue?
