Called BS on clipper oil until I saw a $200 set die mid haircut

Old timer at the shop in Dallas showed me his rusted Wahl clippers after 6 months of no oiling and I finally dropped $8 on a proper bottle, anyone else ignore maintenance until something broke?

Man that's EXACTLY how it goes with everything now. It's like we all gotta learn the hard way that the little boring stuff is what keeps things from falling apart, whether it's clippers or your car's oil.

Grabbed a little bottle of 3-in-1 oil from the hardware store last week after my own trimmer started screaming at me mid-cut. Barely been taking care of it for like two years and it just started making this horrible grinding noise. Took it apart and found all this nasty gunked up hair and dust mixed with the old dried oil. Cleaned it out with a toothbrush and put a few fresh drops on and it's like a brand new machine. Crazy how something so boring saves you from having to buy a whole new thing.

Man oh man, that takes me back. I had this cheap pair of clippers I got from a gas station for like 12 bucks and they buzzed along fine for a year. Then I got cocky and let the oil sit in the drawer while I cut my buddy's hair. Halfway through a fade the blade just locked up and ripped a chunk out of his hairline. He looked like a mangy dog for a month. Now I keep a bottle of Wahl oil right next to my toothbrush so I can't forget.
