Clipper oil on a pivot hinge fixed a 6 month squeak in my barber chair

I oiled my chair's pivot joint with Andis clipper oil last Tuesday and the squeak stopped right after. It was annoying me and my customers for half a year. Anyone else use their barber supplies on other stuff around the shop?

Honestly I have a bottle of Wahl clipper oil in my toolbox specifically for squeaky hinges and drawer slides around here. It's thin enough to get in tight spots and doesn't gum up like WD-40 does after a few weeks. Tbh it's saved me from replacing a couple old cabinet hinges that were driving me nuts.

Haha yeah I gotta gently push back on the WD-40 thing though. WD-40 isn't really a lubricant, it's more of a water displacer (that's literally what the name stands for). It'll work for a bit but then it dries out, which is exactly why you're seeing it get gummy. The clipper oil is a way better move for actual lubrication.
