Clipper oil on my taillight saved me a ticket

I was real skeptical when a older barber told me to wipe a bit of clipper oil on my car's busted taillight to make it look fixed for the night. Last week I got pulled over and the cop just checked it with his hand and waved me on. Has anyone else used random barber shop stuff for non-barber problems?

Yeah, that trick works, I've done it with vegetable oil before.
