Finally nailed a proper scissor-over-comb fade on a super wavy texture

I've been practicing on mannequins for months, but yesterday a regular let me try it on him. The key was keeping my comb dry and using way less tension than I thought I needed. Anyone have tips for keeping the blend smooth when the hair is that curly?
