Found a trick for blending bald fades without using a foil shaver

I was struggling with getting that smooth transition on really dark coarse hair for months, then I tried using the corner of my clipper blade with zero pressure instead of a trimmer. It took the harsh line out completely in about 2 minutes and left a much softer finish. Has anyone else tried this technique or found another way to skip the foil shaver?

On really coarse hair the foil shaver always leaves this ghost line for me too. Tried your corner trick and it works way better than I expected. I also started stretching the skin a little tighter while doing that corner pass and it helped even more.

and seriously, if you make that face any tighter trying to stretch the skin you're gonna look like a surprised cat for the rest of the day. i've definitely caught myself in the mirror going for that extra bit of ghost line and wondering if i'll ever get circulation back to my jaw. but hey, beats walking around with a weird strip of leftover stubble that makes it look like you missed a spot shaving in the dark.
