Heard a guy at the supply shop in Fort Worth say he skips sanitizing his clippers between every client, and I had to say something
I was picking up a couple bottles of Barbicide at my supply spot in Fort Worth yesterday and overheard a younger barber telling his buddy he only soaks his clippers at the end of the day, not between clients. I stepped in and asked him how many heads he does on a Saturday, and he said around 22. That's 22 sets of skin cells, oil, and whatever else sitting on that blade before the next guy's neck. I've been cutting 11 years and I've seen two guys in my shop get ringworm from dirty tools, one of them lost almost three weeks of work and about $2,400. It's not about being paranoid, it's about the fact that a $12 jug of disinfectant lasts me close to a month at the chair. You also never know who's sitting down with something they don't even know they have yet. How are you all handling between-client cleaning when you're slammed and the line is out the door?
