Old barber told me to stop charging extra for skin fades

Met a guy named Frank at a shop in Cleveland. He's been cutting for 40 years. He said my price list was too complicated. Told me to just have one flat rate for a haircut, no matter what. Said people hate feeling nickel and dimed. I tried it for a month. My $35 base cut now includes everything. Bookings went up. Tips got better. People seem way more relaxed when they sit down. They don't ask 'how much for this' anymore. Anyone else run a simple price menu like that?

My buddy's diner did that with their breakfast menu.

Frank's right about the nickel and dime feeling. It's everywhere now. Airlines charge for a seat and a bag. Apps have a million tiny fees. People are just tired of it. A flat price feels honest. Like you're not trying to trick them. Makes the whole thing less stressful for everyone.

My local car wash went from three add-on charges to one flat fee and people actually look relaxed in line now.
