That $60 clipper oil destroyed my favorite trimmer motor
Bought a cheap no-name oil from a flea market in Cleveland last spring, used it once on my Andis, and the motor seized up by Friday. Took it to a repair guy who said the oil was too thick and gummed everything up. Anyone else stick to brand-name oil only after a loss like this?

That flea market oil thing makes sense when you think about what's actually in those bottles. Most of that no-name stuff is just mineral oil with a little perfume, and the viscosity can be all over the place because there's zero quality control. Your Andis runs hot and needs oil thin enough to flow into the bearing but thick enough to stay put, so a random batch that's too heavy will cook into varnish once the motor warms up. The repair guy wasn't kidding about gumming, that's exactly what happens when the wrong weight breaks down inside the housing.
