That barber who handed me a comb instead of scissors

Had this older guy walk into my chair last month in Denver, just sat down and said "cut it like you're my dad." He didn't want anything fancy, just a clean taper... and he told me about how his own dad used to cut his hair in the garage with a trimmer and a bowl. Made me realize how much of this job is about listening to what people don't say, you know? Any other barbers get clients who just want the same thing their dad gave them?

Did you ever ask him what that bowl cut actually looked like?

Wait, you're telling me someone actually had a bowl cut and nobody thought to snap a photo? That's the kind of evidence you hold onto for life.

Was that bowl cut part of the real memory or just how he pictured it?
