I finally switched from wood pellets to lump charcoal for brisket

Always thought pellets were easier til I tried lump charcoal from a local spot in Austin and the bark came out way crunchier. Anyone else notice a big difference between the two for long smokes?

That local Austin spot is key man, I got some from Burnt Bean Co in San Antonio and the mesquite lump gave my packer brisket a crust like nothing I got with pellets in 5 years of trying.

I saw a guy on YouTube say lump charcoal burns hotter than pellets and gives better bark.
