Rant: My brisket bark finally clicked with a coffee rub

I was always messing up the bark on my brisket. Then I caught a pitmaster show where they used coffee in the rub. Gave it a shot over the weekend, and wow, the crust was perfect. Maybe it's just me but the coffee added a nice depth. Idk, I'm just really happy with how it turned out.

I saw that same pitmaster show and figured it was just another TV trick that never works at home. Now I have to try it, and my Saturday is ruined because I can't just enjoy my mediocre brisket anymore. I guess I'm officially out of excuses for my sad bark.
