A regular at the cafe told me my coffee was too hot to drink right away
I mean, I always just served it super hot because I thought that's what people wanted. But this guy, who comes in every morning, said he had to wait ten minutes before he could even take a sip. So now I pull the shots and let the cup sit for a minute before I hand it over. It feels weird, but he says it's perfect. Has anyone else had a customer point out something simple you were totally missing?

Wait, is this actually a problem? People get coffee that's too hot and just... wait for it to cool down. That's how hot drinks work. Did he want you to blow on it for him too?

Remember that lawsuit years ago where coffee was so hot it caused third degree burns? My buddy's dad got coffee from a gas station that was basically boiling water. He took one sip and it blistered his mouth instantly, had to go to the ER. Some places serve it dangerously hot, not just "wait a minute" hot.

You saying "that's how hot drinks work" misses the point. It's not about waiting, it's about coffee being served at a temperature that can cause serious injury in seconds. The old lady in that lawsuit needed skin grafts, it was that bad. There's a big difference between hot and dangerously hot, and places should know that.
