Had the worst shift of my life last Saturday and then the best Monday right after

Saturday was absolute chaos. Had a family of 8 come in 10 minutes before close, all separate checks, and they kept changing orders. Then a Karen screamed at me because we ran out of the soup she wanted. I was ready to quit. But Monday came and I had this sweet old couple who left me a $50 tip on a $35 tab because I helped them split a dessert. Also had 3 other tables that were super chill and tipped well. Made up for the weekend completely. Has anyone else had a weekend that sucked but then got saved by a good Monday?

Look, I'm not trying to be harsh but are you really letting a bad shift ruin your whole week like that? Saturdays are always a mess in restaurants, that's just the reality of the job. I've had way worse days than a family being annoying at close time and one lady yelling about soup. Monday being good just means you had a normal day your way. The tip was nice and all but that doesn't "make up" for anything, it's just a good moment in a long line of shifts. Sounds like you need to not take the bad stuff so personal, it's just people being people at the end of the day.

Oh man, @patricia_green21 I gotta say I kinda get where you're coming from but also I feel like that's a bit rough (sorry, not trying to pick a fight). It reminds me of this one time my buddy worked a double on Mother's Day and got yelled at over the phone for like ten minutes about a missing cake, and then the next day a regular tipped him fifty bucks just for being nice. Weird how that works, right? I think some of us just need a minute to shake off the bad stuff before we can see the good parts, even if the bad stuff is just "people being people.
