Had to pick between covering a shift or my kid's recital, and I chose wrong
My manager at the diner in Boise called me at 6am asking me to come in because Jenna called out. I said yes because I needed the $80, but my daughter's kindergarten recital was at 10. My wife had to film it on her phone so I could watch later, and the look on my kid's face when she scanned the crowd and didn't see me still messes me up. Any other servers deal with this guilt or am I just bad at saying no?
