PSA: never let a customer rush you through checkout at closing time

I work at a gas station off I-94 in Michigan, and last Tuesday some guy came in 2 minutes before close, threw a $100 bill at me for a pack of smokes, and rushed me so bad I forgot to lock the front door after he left. Woke up next morning to an empty register, $340 gone. Now I deadbolt the door 5 minutes early no matter who's waiting. Anyone else get burned by the 'last minute' crowd?

Used to think that rushing was just part of the job and you had to be nice about it. After reading how that one customer cost you $340 I realized being polite doesn't pay the bills when you're getting cleaned out. Locking up early sounds like the smartest thing a person can do for their own peace of mind.

Honestly @charlienelson, don't you just hate when people take advantage like that?
