Rant: that moment I realized our customers dont see half the work we do
I work drive thru at a coffee stand in Portland. Yesterday a lady screamed at me because her drink took 3 minutes. She didnt see me restock cups, wipe down the machine, and take 3 other orders in that time. Then later a different customer waited 8 minutes and thanked me for being thorough. Same day, same station, totally different reactions. Has anyone else noticed how customers judge your speed but never your behind the scenes tasks?

Thanked me for being thorough" - that pretty much sums it up. Some people get it, most don't.

My friend Jenna actually had a similar experience at a car dealership last month, @hugo825. She spent an hour going over every detail of the warranty and the guy just nodded along like he was bored.

Haven't you ever wondered if these dealership guys actually respect thorough people, or if they just want to move on to the next customer they can hustle? The bored nodding proves they don't value someone who checks every box - it's all about slapping a signature on paper. Maybe we're the wrong audience for a business that profits off skipping the little things.
