Worked a double shift at the diner last Tuesday, and the vending machine coffee was free but tasted like burnt regret. I kept telling myself just push through, save the cash, but by hour 9 I was snapping at a customer over ketchup packets. So I finally walked two blocks to the place with the fancy beans and paid 6 bucks for a small oat milk latte. That one cup honestly fixed my whole attitude, got through the rest of the shift without any more incidents. Now I'm wondering if I should just budget 6 bucks a day for the good stuff or if I'm being a diva. Anyone else hit that wall where saving money costs you more in patience?

The real math here isnt about the coffee, its about the cost of being a jerk to a customer over ketchup. One bad interaction can cost way more than six bucks if that person leaves a bad review or tells their friends. So budgeting for the latte isnt being a diva, its paying for a tool that keeps your job safe. Think of it like buying good boots for a shift where you stand all day. If it stops you from snapping, that money is doing real work.

The ketchup thing is usually free anyway, so the math there is already off.
