A customer told me my chain waxing method was 'a bit medieval' and they were right.

I was using a crockpot in the back of the shop, the whole process took about 45 minutes per batch. This guy, a regular who races, just watched me for a minute and said, 'You know, you can get a consistent melt and dip in under ten minutes with a cheap mini fryer from a thrift store.' Felt like an idiot. Switched to a $15 Presto Fry Daddy, and it's a game changer. No more hot wax everywhere, and the temperature control is perfect. Anyone else have a shop hack that seems obvious once you hear it?

That Presto Fry Daddy is basically a holy relic in my shop now.

Ever have a tool that just refuses to die? Those old Presto things are built like tanks, so it makes total sense. Some gear just earns its keep forever.
