I finally tried the new Park Tool chain checker against my old Pedro's one, and the difference was way bigger than I expected.

Saw a bike shop video where they tested a bunch of checkers and the Park Tool was the most accurate by a long shot. Makes sense why your results were so different.

That's a great test to run. My old Pedro's tool always gave me a bit more life, but switching to the Park Tool showed a few chains were way more worn than I thought. It makes you wonder how much variation there is between brands. Now I just use one checker and stick with it to keep things consistent.

Oh man, I had the exact same thing happen! My old off-brand checker said a chain was fine, but a friend's Park Tool CC-4 flagged it as totally shot. I was skeptical until I measured with a ruler and the Park Tool was right. Now I don't trust anything else.
