I got called out for my lazy cable housing cuts

A guy at the shop in Denver told me my housing ends looked 'chewed up' and it was making his installs harder. I started using the Park Tool CN-10 cutter and deburring every single one, which honestly fixed the issue. Anyone have a better cutter they swear by?

Seriously? I'm going totally against the grain here. That guy at the shop was just being picky. A chewed housing end still works fine 99% of the time, it just doesn't look perfect. Spending all that time deburring is a waste when you could be riding. I see what @fox.david is saying about bad cable, but even good cable can get a little messy. The function matters way more than the looks.

Forget the cutter for a second. Check the housing itself. Some of the cheaper, plastic-lined stuff is just brittle and wants to split no matter what tool you use. I had a roll of Jagwire that was a nightmare until I switched brands. A good cutter meets bad material and you still get a messy end.
