Just burned $85 on a "universal" derailleur hanger alignment gauge that fits nothing
Bought it from a distributor in Dallas thinking it would save me time on bent hangers. The thing won't clamp straight on half the dropouts I see, so I'm back to the old Park tool I've had for 12 years. Anyone found a gauge that actually works on modern thru-axle frames?
Man, I feel your pain on that. I went through something like this with a torque wrench a few years back, paid good money for one that was supposed to be the gold standard and it was off by like 15 percent right out of the box. Took me stripping a bolt on my buddy's carbon seatpost to figure it out, and he still gives me grief about it at every group ride. Funny thing is my cheap old beam wrench from the 90s has never lied to me once. Sometimes the new stuff just adds problems instead of solving them. Hope you find something that clamps right, because fighting a tool that won't sit straight is worse than just bending the hanger back by eye.
