Just had a bottom bracket shell crack on a 2018 aluminum frame

Was doing a routine bearing swap last Saturday and noticed a hairline crack forming around the non-drive side cup. The frame had maybe 4,000 miles on it, no crashes. Has anyone else seen this on late-model alloy frames or did I just get unlucky?

Was it actually torqued right from the factory? I've seen shops overtighten those cups just enough to stress the shell over time.

Yeah that sucks... aluminum frames are notorious for that honestly.
