Old timer told me to never grease pedal threads. He was wrong.
A guy at the co-op swore pedals only need anti-seize, so I ran them dry on a commuter build. After 6 months they seized so bad I had to cut the crank arm off with a hacksaw. Anyone else deal with stuck pedals from skipping the grease?

Used to think grease on pedal threads was just extra mess to clean up later. Always ran them dry or with a light coat of oil. Then a set of cheap Wellgo pedals welded themselves onto a set of cranks I actually wanted to keep. Had to heat the whole thing with a torch and still ended up stripping the crank threads. Now I put a thin layer of copper anti-seize on every pedal install. Learned the hard way like you did.

Learned the hard way like you did" - yep that's how it always goes with pedals. I use a dab of regular park grease on every pedal install now, works fine for me. Just keep it thin so the torque spec still reads right.
