Rant: My trust in plain old grease for threads saved a rusty bolt job
Everyone says to use anti-seize paste on bike bolts, but I just use basic grease. Had a customer with a seized seat clamp bolt yesterday, and my greased threads let it come right out. It was a quick fix that made their ride smooth again. This small win shows that sometimes the simple stuff works fine. I know most folks would disagree, but it saved time and trouble.

Good old grease gets the job done sometimes.

Ever wonder if grease could actually ruin some newer materials? Like, @the_grace is right it works on old stuff, but I saw a video where it made a certain plastic brittle over time... the chemicals just don't play nice. Makes you check what something's made of before grabbing the can.

Most plastics nowadays are fine with it.
