Stopped by a co-op shop in Portland and saw how they organized spare parts
I walked into this bicycle co-op downtown last Saturday to grab a used rim. The guy running the place had every chain, cable, and bolt sorted by size in clear bins with handwritten labels. It looked basic but I could find exactly what I needed in under a minute. My own bench at home is a mess of random boxes and old coffee cans. Has anyone else tried that bin system for small parts?

Did they label by brand too or just size? I ran into trouble sorting cables because Shimano and SRAM housings are slightly different diameters and my hands just grab the wrong one every time. Also curious if they kept the really weird stuff like old Campagnolo shifters in a separate drawer or mixed it all together. Sorting by size only works if you know what fits what.
