Took my disc rotors to a machine shop and got roasted

I had some warped rotors on my mountain bike so I decided to take them to a local machine shop in Austin to get them trued up. The guy laughed at me and said he's never had anyone ask him to resurface bike rotors, told me they're disposable parts. I ended up spending $35 on new rotors anyway, but honestly I learned that trying to save worn rotors is just asking for problems. Anyone else ever try to salvage rotors that were clearly done for?

Yeah the whole "they're disposable parts" thing is exactly what I heard when I tried the same thing a couple years back. I thought I was being smart by taking them to a shop but the guy basically told me the same thing, that bike rotors are too thin to machine and it's not worth the hassle. I ended up just buying new ones too and honestly the peace of mind from fresh rotors is worth the money.

Paid $80 for new rotors and still managed to warp one practicing my sick parking lot skids.
