Was dead set against tubeless tires on road bikes for years. Did a 60 mile ride this Sunday and finally got it.
Ran a set of GP5000s with tubes for like 4 seasons. Punctures every other week. Buddy kept telling me to go tubeless. I kept saying it's a gimmick for mountain bikes. Finally caved after I flatted 3 miles into a group ride and held everyone up. Set up some Hutchinson Fusion 5s. First ride, hit a chunk of glass, heard the hiss, sealant did its thing. Didn't even lose pressure. I get the hate about messy installs but for actual riding it's honestly better. Anyone else switch recently and have a similar moment?

Nodded along reading this because what nobody talks about is how tubeless actually changes your tire pressure game. I run 5-10 psi lower now and the bike just glides over rough chipseal that used to rattle my teeth out. Your mileage may vary but that ride quality alone made the switch worth it for me.

3 miles in? Man that is brutal. I wouldve been so pissed if I held up a whole group ride right at the start. I switched about 6 months ago after I flatted on a century ride with 10 miles to go. Had to call my wife to come get me because I was out of tubes and patches. The sealant saved me twice since then, once from a goathead thorn on a gravel section. Still hate the initial setup though, getting the bead to seat with a floor pump is a nightmare.
