City apartment vs suburban rental, I chose the house and it's chaos

After 8 years in a 2-bedroom condo near downtown Austin, I moved to a 3-bedroom rental in Round Rock last month because my landlord doubled the rent. I picked the house mainly for the yard for my dog, but now I'm dealing with sprinkler repairs, a leaky roof, and mowing every week. The commute went from 15 minutes to 45, and I've already missed two gym sessions because of traffic. Has anyone else traded convenience for space and regretted it, or does it eventually settle down?
