Vent: dropped $400 on a moving pod for my cross country move and it showed up 11 days late
I moved from Austin to Spokane for a new job back in March and figured a 400 dollar pod was cheaper than renting a truck. My stuff sat in a warehouse in Denver for almost two weeks while I slept on an air mattress in an empty place, and the tracking page just kept saying 'in transit.' Has anyone else had a move where the cheap option ended up costing way more in stress than it saved?
My last move I tried to save money by renting the smallest truck they had, then spent the whole drive with a lamp wedged against my back because there was nowhere else to put it. So yeah, cheap usually means you pay in other ways, like your spine or your sanity. Eleven days is brutal though, sitting on an air mattress in a place with no stuff is its own special kind of hell. The tracking page saying "in transit" the whole time is almost funny, like thanks, that really narrows it down. The real cost of a move is never the sticker price, it's all the stuff you didn't plan for. At least you got a story out of it, even if it came with a side of back pain.
