Dubbed or subtitled? Had to pick one for a show and it changed everything
I started watching "Dark" on Netflix and couldn't decide between the English dub and the original German with subtitles. After 3 episodes of each, I stuck with the subtitled version because the voice acting felt more real. But my buddy swears the dub lets him actually look at the scenes instead of reading. Has anyone else had this debate and found a clear winner for a specific show?

@jakeb25 I can't even read a subtitled show without spilling my drink, so I'm definitely not the expert here.

Is it really that serious though? I mean, you're just watching a show, not making a life decision. I get that the voice acting felt more real in German, but by episode 3 you're basically just reading a book with moving pictures half the time. Your buddy's got a point about actually watching the scenes, gotta say.

Nah @jakeb25 you're acting like subtitles are some kind of rocket science. Saying you're just reading a book with moving pictures is wild, my guy. You're telling me you can't enjoy the actual acting and camera work just because there's text at the bottom? I've watched whole seasons of Dark with subs and still caught every creepy glance and rain-soaked scene. If anything, reading makes me pay more attention to the visuals because I'm not zoning out listening to bad dubbing. Your buddy might have a point about missing stuff, but so does everyone when they're too busy complaining about reading.
