Finally compared Succession to Yellowstone back to back and one is clearly better

I watched the first 3 episodes of Succession last Tuesday and couldn't get into it. Then my buddy said give Yellowstone a shot instead. After 5 episodes of Yellowstone I realized the writing just hits harder - no fake drama, just people acting like real families do. Has anyone else found that one show just clicks while another hyped one falls flat?

Wait, have you actually watched the first three episodes of Succession? The first episodes are slow on purpose. It sets up the family mess. The real show kicks in around episode 4 when the vote of no confidence happens. You missed the best part. Yellowstone is good but in a different way. More straightforward. Succession's comedy comes from watching awful people be awful to each other. It's not fake drama, it's just really uncomfortable humor. Give it a few more episodes before you write it off.

8 episodes in with Succession here and I feel like you might be comparing apples to oranges a little bit. They're both about rich families but Yellowstone is more of a straight western drama while Succession is a comedy-drama about media people, which is a pretty big difference in tone.
