I finally gave into my sister's nagging about The Wire
My sister kept telling me for like 2 years straight that I needed to watch The Wire. I kept putting it off because I thought a show about cops and drug dealers from 2002 would feel super dated. Well I finally started it last month during my week off from the mail route and she was totally right. The way each season builds on the last is something you just don't see in newer shows. Has anyone else had a sibling or friend insist on a show that ended up being your favorite?

Oh man I feel you on the "feeling super dated" part, I had the same doubts before I finally watched it. It's wild how well it holds up compared to everything else out now.

Exactly right, it's surprising how the pacing and writing style don't feel stuck in the early 2000s at all. The practical effects and real sets give it a grounded feel that a lot of newer shows lose with too much CGI. It really proves that a good story and solid acting never go out of style.

Waiting did it take you more than one episode to get into it? I remember that first episode kind of threw me off because of how different everything looked compared to what I was used to. But by episode three I was completely hooked and couldn't stop watching. Did you have that same slow burn experience or did it grab you right from the start?
