I finally hit 100 shows marked 'watched' on my list and it made me think about how much TV has changed.

I started that list back in 2012 with just 'Breaking Bad' on it, and hitting that number made me realize how the whole idea of a 'season' has shifted from 22 episodes you caught weekly to 8 perfect hours you devour in a weekend. Anyone else feel a weird nostalgia for the old cable TV schedule, even though what we have now is objectively better?

The old schedule forced you to live with a show for months... you'd talk about it at school or work. Now it's just a weekend of content that disappears from the culture. There was something about the shared wait that made it feel bigger.

Yeah the shared wait thing is real. I mean now it's just like a quick hit and then everyone moves on.

Miss having something to chew on for a few weeks, not just scarf it down in a weekend and forget it existed. The slow burn made the good moments hit harder.
