I gave up on 'Dark' after two episodes, then forced myself to watch one more

Everyone said you need to push through the slow start, but I was ready to drop it. I watched episode three with a notepad next to me, writing down the family names and dates. That single change made the whole show click, and I finished the rest of the season in a weekend. Anyone else have a show that needed a specific trick to get into?

That notepad trick is basically mandatory for that show. It turns a confusing mess into a cool puzzle you get to solve yourself. Some shows just need that little bit of extra work to unlock them.

Honestly used to think that kind of extra work was just for super fans. But what @the_paul said makes sense, it turns watching into something you're part of. Maybe it's just me but that does sound way better than being confused.

Nah, that just sounds like homework for a TV show lol. If I need a notepad to follow the plot, the writers messed up. Some of us just want to relax after work without solving puzzles.
