I just wasted a whole weekend on a show that went nowhere

I saw a lot of hype for 'The Acolyte' and decided to give it a shot last Friday. I ended up watching all 8 episodes over two days, about 7 hours total. The setup was cool, but by the end, nothing really happened and the main plot felt totally unresolved. It was a huge letdown after that time commitment. Has anyone else felt burned by a show that promised a big story but just fizzled out?

Ugh, tell me about it. I did the same thing with that show '1899' on Netflix. They built up this whole mystery on a weird ship, and then the big ending was... a computer simulation? It felt like the writers just gave up and hit a reset button. What a total waste of a weekend.

Gotta push back a little. Calling it a total waste seems harsh. The simulation twist was definitely a choice, but it wasn't a reset button, it was the whole point. The show was always about that from the first scene. Maybe @ray158 has a point about checking reviews, because going in expecting a normal period mystery would set you up for a bad time. It just wasn't the story they were telling.

Ever check reviews before you start a new show?
