My buddy convinced me to try a show I skipped for 2 years

I was talking to my coworker Dave last week during lunch and he kept going on about this show called The Bear. I told him I didn't get the hype because it just looked like a stressful kitchen drama. He said "watch the first 3 episodes and if you don't like it, I'll buy your lunch for a week." So I binged it over the weekend and wow, I was so wrong. The way they handle anxiety and family stuff just hit me different than I expected. Has anyone else had a friend push them into a show they thought they'd hate?

Wait, wait. Dave bet you a WEEK of lunches? That's insane commitment to a TV show. Ngl, that's the kind of pressure that would make me either love the show or hate it out of pure spite. Tbh, I'm impressed he was that confident to put his wallet on the line like that.

Oh man, The Bear is exactly one of those shows that sounds awful on paper but then you watch it and it just clicks. I think it's funny how we all have this guard up about stuff we think we won't like, especially when it's something that gets a lot of buzz. But there's a pattern I've noticed in life where the things we resist the most end up being exactly what we needed to see or hear. It's like we build up this idea in our heads that's way off base, then one person just nudges us past that wall and we realize we were missing out the whole time. Your buddy Dave sounds like a good friend for pushing you like that, even if it was over a bet.
