My friend from Boston said she only watches shows with less than 30 episodes total now
We were talking about starting a new series and she said she's completely over the old 100+ episode format. She told me 'I don't have the time to invest in a show that might get bad after season 3.' That really stuck with me because I realized I've been doing the same thing, sticking to stuff like 'The Queen's Gambit' or 'Chernobyl' that have a clear end. Has anyone else found themselves avoiding long-running shows lately?

Oh man, I gotta respectfully disagree with this take! I mean @henry604 I see you're on board but I actually think 100+ episode shows can be amazing if they earned it. Like yeah some shows drag on, but stuff like The Wire or Breaking Bad built whole worlds over time and you just can't get that in a short series. You're telling me you'd rather have 6 episodes of something instead of sitting with characters through seasons of growth? That seems like missing out on the best parts. Plus what phoenix29 said about anime is a good point, some of those shows that were planned as one big story from day one really reward the long haul. I guess I just think a show being long isn't automatically bad and a short show isn't automatically good either.

What about shows that were planned as one long story from the start, like some anime?
