My new rule for picking a show finally paid off big time!

I got so tired of starting a series and dropping it after two episodes. Last Tuesday, I decided to only watch the third episode of any new show first. If that one hooked me, I'd go back and start from the beginning. It worked perfectly with 'The Bear' on Hulu! The chaos of that specific episode made me need to know how everything started. Has anyone else tried a weird viewing order that actually worked for them?
