Walked past my old Blockbuster the other day, it's a vape shop now
I was visiting my hometown last weekend and drove by the old shopping center. The Blockbuster where I used to rent movies every Friday night is now just a vape shop with neon signs. It hit me how different picking a show is now. Back then you'd walk the aisles for 20 minutes, read the back of every box, and hope you didn't pick a dud. Now I just scroll for 2 seconds and if it doesn't grab me, I'm onto the next thing. Makes me wonder if we actually enjoy shows less when they're this easy to get. Anyone else feel like the hunt was part of the fun?

60% of my life was late fees and the other 40% was finding the DVD someone hid behind the Slasher section.

Man that's the opposite of how I see it... used to hate driving all the way to Blockbuster just to find out they only had two copies of the movie I wanted and both were rented out. Now I can watch whatever I want in ten seconds flat and never have to worry about late fees again.

Three years ago I had to drive forty minutes each way to the closest Blockbuster and they'd always be out of new releases by Friday night. Now I've got four streaming apps on my TV and I can watch a different movie every night if I want. The trick is to only keep two subscriptions going at a time and rotate them every couple months. That way you're not paying for a dozen services you barely touch. Just cancel one and start another when you've binged everything good. I haven't paid a late fee in almost a decade and my DVD collection stopped collecting dust years ago.
