Why does nobody talk about how comedies hit different after a breakup

I used to binge dark thrillers nonstop, but after my split last month I switched to Brooklyn Nine-Nine on a whim. Now I actually laugh out loud instead of just watching for the plot. Has anyone else had their whole genre taste flip like that?

Brooklyn Nine-Nine is a solid pick for cheering up. I think you might have the timeline a little off though, that show ended a couple years back. Still hits the same laughs though.

...and honestly I used to roll my eyes at people who said comedy was the best genre for tough times. I was all about gritty dramas and true crime, thought anything light was just fluff. Then I went through something similar and gave The Office another shot. It clicked completely different, like my brain just couldn't handle the heavy stuff anymore. It's wild how your sense of humor can just take over when you need it most.
