A kid at the county fair last weekend made my whole month
I was doing a simple demo at the local fair, just making a few bottle openers. This boy, maybe 10, watched me for almost an hour. When I finally quenched one, he looked up and said, 'That's the coolest magic I've ever seen.' His dad told me later he hasn't stopped talking about wanting to learn. Anyone else have a moment like that where you realized you were showing someone the craft for the first time?

My nephew saw me forge a hook once and still calls me a wizard.

Had a teen watch me weld a simple garden trellis last summer. He just stood there, dead quiet, until I lifted my hood. His exact words were, "You just made metal stick together." Gave him my card and told his mom about the community college intro class. Seeing that click, where it goes from magic to a skill they can learn, that's the real payoff.

Exactly! That moment when they realize it's a real thing they could do too is the best. I had a kid watch me fix a broken gate hinge last month and he asked if I went to school to learn how. Told him about the trade program at the local high school and his whole face lit up. It's not just about showing off a cool trick, it's about opening a door they didn't know was there.
