Found my anvil crack the hard way, after 11 years of use

I was flattening a bracket last week and heard that dull ping, pulled the piece to find a hairline split running from the horn base to the face, and now I'm figuring out whether to weld it myself or start shopping for a replacement, anyone else had a good weld hold up on a cracked anvil?

Did you check the face hardness after the crack, since welding can mess with the temper in a weird spot?
