Guy at the flea market told me I was holding my hammer wrong

After 8 months of forging I ran into an old timer at the Masonville flea market who watched me make one hit and said 'you're choking the handle like a baseball bat, loosen up,' and it fixed my wrist pain almost overnight, has anyone else had a random stranger point out a basic flaw in their technique?

Betcha didn't expect to get a free lesson in five seconds flat, huh? Sometimes the best advice comes from a total stranger who's got nothing to sell you.

Ever had a random person at a car show tell you your spark plug gap was off by a hair? Happened to me last summer, guy just leaned over and pointed at my distributor cap like he was diagnosing a sick patient. He was dead right, the thing was arcing across to the next plug. I didn't even know what a distributor cap did before that, just thought it was a fancy cover. Now I can't unsee bad wiring on any old car I walk past. Funny how strangers can spot stuff you've been staring at for months.

Loosen your backhand grip too, it stops the bounce from traveling up your arm.
