Hand crank drills vs cordless, the morning my shoulder gave out

I was doing some repairs on a big gate hinge last Tuesday and reached for my old hand crank drill out of habit. My shoulder popped something fierce, first time that ever happened. I've been swinging hammers and turning handles for over 20 years, but that moment got me thinking about how much I relied on that tool back in the day. Started with a bridgeport hand drill my grandpa passed down, used it for everything from pilot holes to reaming out pin holes. Then around 2012 I picked up a cheap cordless at a garage sale in Springfield, just to try it, and I never went back. The speed difference is wild, what took me 15 minutes of cranking now takes maybe 2. But there's something about the feel of the old way, you could hear and feel when the bit was cutting true. Now I keep the cordless for the big stuff and pull out the hand crank for fine work on small brackets. Has anyone else found a reason to keep using old manual tools even after going electric, or am I just being sentimental about a shoulder that hates me now?
