My coal forge grate fix using an old truck spring

My fire kept dying out because the grate bars were too far apart and small coal fell straight through. I cut a section from an old leaf spring I had in the scrap pile and welded it into a tighter grid. Took about 45 minutes and now the fire holds steady for over an hour. Anyone else re-purpose suspension parts for their forge?

Wait, you're telling me you fixed a forge with the same part that makes your truck bounce down the road? That's some serious recycling mojo, haha.
