PSA: Told me to quench my first 1084 knife in warm canola instead of water, saved the whole blade
A guy named Dale at the Tri-Cities forge meet last Saturday told me water would crack it and to warm the canola to about 130F, and that edge held a file test on the first try. Three practice blades died in the water bucket before that, so this one finally counts. Anyone else running warm oil for simple carbon steel or do you go by color of the steel?
