That Tuesday my fire brick exploded and I almost lost an eye
I was reheating a stubborn 5/8 inch bolt in my propane forge over in Tulsa and a chunk of cracked fire brick let go at like 2:30 in the afternoon, sent a fragment straight past my face shield and into the wall. The bolt flew out too, tumbled across the shop floor, and I spent the next hour looking for it under my anvil stand. Anyone else ever have refractory fail mid-heat without warning, and what do you use to patch it now?
