Why does everyone treat mild steel like it's spring steel?
I watched a guy at the shop in Houston try to harden a mild steel chisel with a torch and a bucket of water. It came out soft as butter and he blamed the steel, not his method. That's the third time this month I've seen someone skip the spark test or just grab A36 without checking. Is it too much to ask that we stop pretending every rod in the rack is 1095? Anyone else tired of cleaning up this kind of mistake?
