Can we talk about how I used to think paying for a gym was dumb, now I drop $140 a month and it's the best money I spend
Five years back I was that guy doing pushups in my living room and running around the block in the dark. I figured why pay $60 a month when I got a floor and gravity for free. Then my back went out lifting a couch in 2021 and I couldn't stand up straight for a week. A buddy dragged me to a spot on 8th street and the first thing they did was make me do a real warmup for 15 minutes. I fought it for months, kept saying I could just look up videos at home. But here's the thing, at home I'd do 8 reps and check my phone for 4 minutes. At the gym I do 8 reps and some old guy named Ray is standing there waiting for the rack so I actually finish the set. Last month I hit a 275 deadlift which I never got close to in my living room. So yeah, I was wrong, the money keeps me showing up. Anyone else pay for something they used to swear was a rip off?
